In the world of Indian classical music, there was one such great music singer who everyone wants in their darbar. It is said that it because this fight between two kings started.
Born in the 16th century, Tansen started singing at the age of 6 years. Taking Swami Gurudas as his first guru, Tansen originated the Dhrupad singing style in Indian music. During the early life of Tansen ji, Gwalior was ruled by art lover Raja Mansingh Tomar. Due to his encouragement, Gwalior became a new center of music arts education.
Great singers like Baiju Bawra, Karna, and Mahmud were present there at that time. With the help of all these, Raja Mansingh propagated and spread the Dhrupad style of music in other areas of India.
After the death of Raja Mansingh, music experts began to disintegrate due to the withdrawal of the right of Gwalior from Raja Vikram Singh. Due to this incident, Tansen went to Vrindavan and there he got higher education in music from Swami Haridas Ji.
After completing his music education, he started living near Daulat Khan. It is said that after this Tansen was appointed the courtier of King Ramchandra of Bandhavgarh in Rewa State.
In the Rewa court of Ramchandra, Tansen was given the status of Rajagayak with all kinds of economic facility, social and state value. Tansen remained in Rewa till the age of 50. It is said that Tansen made his music practice seductive and attractive, due to which his singing was praised in every corner of India.
Hearing the praise of Tansen's singing, Akbar invited him to come to the court. But King Ramchandra Ji refused to send Tansen. It is said that from this point, war broke out in Raja Akbar and Rewa.
But after the agreement, Akbar sent a letter of request to King Ramachandra for Tansen. After this Raja Ramchandra Ji sent Tansen to Delhi court. After Tansen reached Delhi Durbar, Akbar includes Tansen in his 9 jewels (9 people with different skills).
It is said about the greatness of Tansen that whenever he used to chant the raga, the lamp automatically lightnings up. Perhaps this may seem an exaggeration to many people. But if you look at the pages of history, you will find this to be true. Many people would not know the truth of the death of such a great musician. Did Tansen really fall prey to any conspiracy?
There were 9 gems in Akbar's court. One of them was Tansen. Tansen was a favorite singer of Akbar. For this reason, Akbar did not postpone any talk of Tansen. This was not liked by other people in the court. Because of this, some people conspired to die Tansen.
Everyone together asked King Akbar to tell Tansen to sing the raga "Deepak". After ignoring the things of people for several days, one day they insisted in front of Tansen to sing the raga Deepak. Tansen tried to deny him, but he did not stand in front of Akbar. Tansen has already told that by singing the raga Deepak, his body also starts to heat up and burn. But still, Akbar did not agree. Because Akbar was king, Tansen had to sing the raga lamp.
This caused the lamp to burn and the surrounding environment also started to heat up. It is said that a fire broke out in the palace shortly after. Due to the singing of the raga lamp, Tansen's body heat started coming out. Tansen's daughters were also present at that time. Observing the seriousness, they started singing the raga Malhar and cooled the atmosphere, and saved Tansen's lives.
At that time, he was 80 years old. Because of this, they could not fully emerge. After three years, the heat rose again. He died due to this terrible fever in 1585.
