By understanding the threat of Jalandhar, other gods reaches to Lord Vishnu for help and urged to save mankind. Lord Vishnu understood that Vrinda Devi was acting like a shield to demon Jalandhar. Lord Vishnu tricked Vrinda Devi by adopted the look of Jalandhar and started living with his wife and killed Jalandhar. When Devi Vrinda understood that she was tricked by Lord Vishnu, she cursed him to turn black and ugly. This curse made him dark.
