Gir National Park

This park is spread in a 1,412 sq km area in Junagadh, Gir Somnath, and Amreli Districts of Gujarat, India. "Somnath" Temple is only 67 away from this amazing wildlife sanctuary. Rajkot is the nearest airport and located 165 kms (via Junagadh) from Gir National Park

National park is 400 km placed from Ahmedabad and 43 km from Veraval city

Best season to visit:

The best season to visit the park is between December to March. The days of April and May month (hot summer) are also suggested to visit one of the best national parks of Gujarat which is best for wildlife viewing and photography these days. We recommend you to pre-book your visit to your family and friend to avoid the large queue. It will save your morning time and increase the possibility of a great safari. In 2 hours of wildlife safari, there is no guarantee that you will spot a lion during your visit. Unlike Devalia Safari Park, Gir wildlife sanctuary is open and spread in a large area. Here luck plays a major role to spot a lion.

Things To Do/See

  1. Gir Interpretation Zone: Don't get upset, if you are unable to spot the lion in Gir National Park. Here, you will get the chance of spotting lions and you can easily see them for 30- 45 minutes from a bus. This zone is located only 40 km from the wildlife sanctuary
  2. Junagadh Fort: You can enjoy the old Gujarat fort which is located only 91 km from this national park
  3. Somnath Jyotirlinga temple is located only 72 km from this park which is first among the twelve shrines of Dev Mahadev (Lord)

Suggestion

  1. Devaliya Safari is closed every Wednesday. Plan your visit accordingly.
  2. Follow the park rules. Don't smoke. Don't get out of the vehicle except at designated places
  3. Consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited inside the park
